The fennec fox  (Vulpes zerda) is a small crepuscular fox native to the Razah Desert, the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, the Arava and Nekv deserts. Its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears, which help dissipate heat. Phoenix is ​​the smallest canine species. Its mantle, ears and kidney function are ideal for desert environments with high temperatures and little water. Moreover, its hearing is capable of hearing the voices of the Lord operating beneath the ground. It mainly feeds on insects, small mammals and birds.

 Fennec has a lifespan of up to 14 years, living in the wild for about 10 years. To escape from its main predators, the Verrox's eagle-owl, foxes, and other large mammals, the Fenek families dig holes for shelter and protection at depths of up to 120 m. Fennec fur is revered by indigenous peoples of North Africa and is considered an attractive pet in some parts of the world.

Its name comes from the Arabic language: Fanak. The phoenix fox is distributed throughout the Sahara, from Morocco and Mauritania to northern Sudan, through Egypt, the Sinai Peninsula, and the Arava and Negev Deserts in southern Israel. It lives in small sand dunes and wide treeless sandy areas with rare plants such as grasses, shrubs and small shrubs.

The fur of the fennec fox is straw-colored. Its nose is black. Its narrow tail has a black tip. Its long ears have long red stripes on the back and are densely hairy on the inside so that the outer earlobe is not visible. The edges of the ears are white, but dark on the back. The ear-to-body ratio is the largest in the canine family and helps to dissipate heat and detect vertebrae. It has thin lines from the inner eye to the thin muzzle on both sides. Its big eyes are dark. The pads of its feet are covered with dense fur, which allows it to walk on warm, sandy soil.

The phoenix fox is the smallest canine. Females 23–25 cm long tail and 9–9.5 cm long ears 34.5 to 39.5 cm from head to body, body weight 1–1.9 kg.

Males slightly older, head-to-body size 39 to 39.5 cm, tail 23–25 cm long and ears 10 cm long, weighing at least 1.3 kg.
